Persons with reduced mobility information page

From July 2008, under new EU legislation, airport authorities are responsible for the provision of assistance for people with reduced mobility. Waterford airport has always been committed to ensuring that passengers with special needs receive an efficient and friendly service at Waterford Airport and will continue to do so. Services for passengers requiring special assistance are provided free of charge.

Passenger services at Waterford airport terminal building are located on the ground floor so there are no mobility issues with escalators, stairs etc. In order for us to provide the best service possible and to ensure that passenger’s needs are met, it is important you advise the airline that you are travelling with of your requirements when booking your flight, or where possible at least 48 hours in advance of travel. This information will be passed onto the airport so that arrangements can be made to provide the assistance requested.

Inbound Passengers

Persons requiring help will be met at the aircraft steps and assistance appropriate to their needs will be provided, including the use of a wheel chair and/or help with carrying luggage to car/taxi.

Outbound Passengers

The car park at Waterford airport is located adjacent to the terminal building and there are ten dedicated spaces for persons with reduced mobility at the closest point to the airport entrance. There is also a set down area directly outside the entrance.

On arrival at the airport, the customer services desk is the designated point of contact – it is located directly inside the entrance to the terminal building. For passengers who cannot make their way into the terminal building unassisted, please use the intercom button at the car park entrance barrier to make contact with the information desk. Assistance will be provided as soon as possible, however during busy periods there may be a short delay in providing requested assistance. We apologise for any inconvenience and ask for your patience.
